El Programa

This 6-week Intensive Program includes all materials, and consists of 3 Parts:

Intensive spanishhispanic culture classesMinistry classes

Upon arrival, you will be given a placement test to determine your current Spanish level.

You will then be put into one of three levels: Beginner, intermediate or advanced.

Over the 6 weeks, every day, according to your level, you will have intensive Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation classes, including homework, tests, and writing and speaking assignments.

Levels intermediate and advanced are taught 100% in Spanish by native Chilean speakers. In the beginning level, you will get a little more help and some occasional English explanation of difficult grammar points.

The goal of these classes is to help you learn the "real" Spanish that people speak, and not a text-book style, so you can understand them, and not sound like a text book yourself!

You will explore the Church documents about Hispanic ministry and foreign missions, the missionary heart, and the "reality" of ministry: challenges, overcoming persecution, and really effective ways to reach out.

You will also discover the demographics and reality of Hispanics in the United States, and the reality and needs of Hispanics in Latin America. You will study the Hispanic culture and how the differences affect ministy.

You will delve into the current difficulties facing the Church in the US regarding the integration of Hispanics, and strategize ways to reach out to this huge segment of the population and the Church.

In these classes and workshops (taught in Spanish but you have the ability to ask if you don't understand), you will learn everything from the names of the books of the Bible in Spanish and how to cite them, to how to preach to and evangelize an audience from a different culture.

You will have classes about worship leading in Spanish- what are the well-known songs, worship styles, and even different guitar chord structure (they don't use A, B, C chords!)

You will learn how to give your testimony in Spanish. This is more difficult than just translating it- the challenge is adapting it to an audience that comes from a totally different background then you. How do you help them understand and not feel bad that they haven't had the same opportunities as you?

You will explore the top issues facing Hispanic young people today, and prepare talks about various subjects.
